National Vaccine Information Center.
This nonprofit organization’s mission is:
“The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) is dedicated to the prevention of vaccine injuries and deaths through public education and to defending the informed consent ethic in medicine. As an independent clearinghouse for information on diseases and vaccines, NVIC does not advocate for or against the use of vaccines. We support the availability of all preventive health care options, including vaccines, and the right of consumers to make educated, voluntary health care choices.”
This is an incredibly useful online resource regarding vaccines. It has information on the various vaccines available, ingredients for vaccines (useful to know, especially if you have a family history of allergies to metal or other inactive ingredients), as well as information on vaccine injury compensation.
Childhood Shots.com offers evidence based information on vaccinations, as well as other alternatives and long-term immune support for kids. There is a tab under “Vaccines” that lists all of the possible vaccinations your baby might get, what the illness is, what it’s symptoms might be, and other alternatives. This is a good overview for what each illness actually is that the vaccine is for. I think the website might be under construction though, some of the tabs aren’t working so just stay tuned for an update.
PAVE: People Advocating Vaccine Education
The mission of this organization is “to help the public make informed and intelligent decisions about childhood and adult vaccines.” This site has a working list of all of the different illnesses and what they are all about, as well as more links to get information on specific vaccinations. They also have a link to vaccine requirements for each state, as well as the process for getting exemptions from certain vaccinations.
Vaccinate your Baby
This is a very pro-vaccination camp site. They are very much interested in dispelling myths around vaccines and making sure each child is vaccinated on time.
CDC and vaccines.gov
Both of these are the government’s recommendations on and around vaccines. They also give general info on how vaccines work and why they exist in the first place.
